Adolescents and Children
Young people are often confused and uneasy about why they need to see a psychologist. Initially our work is about building trust and rapport
with the therapist. This way clients feel safe to engage with the material we work on. The pathway to solving the problem includes a compliment
of approaches for each individual person. Some clients work well with talking, some work better with physical approaches such as physical awareness
and relaxation techniques. Most people work with a blend of approaches. This can solve problems at the levels of thought, behaviour and emotion.
Adults
Most adult clients come to me with a problem or slow building crisis that has them 'stuck'.
Un-sticking involves taking a history, identifying the main problem and practicing solutions over and over, refining them until you have a grip on how to move
forward. Eventually you will hold the keys to coping without my help.
